The Five Aspects of PEACE were first introduced in the UNESCO HK Association’s 2012 Peace Project. They include Individual, Cultural, Social, Ecological and Political Peace. Our vision is “ Promoting five aspects of Peace” and achieving Peace is the ultimate goal of the world.
GPC is a place for peacemakers who always uphold the concept of Peace by preserving harmony and unity.

Individual Peace

Peace and the individual

In our daily life, we can cultivate Peace: within ourselves with our kind thoughts, and in our interactions with others in our kind words and deeds.

Education extends to cultivate values and character that implies the well-being of ourselves and others. We must first understand ourselves, our purpose and our vision of peace. Secondly, we must act upon it to make an impact on the society. In daily life we can cultivate peace within ourselves and around others. Knowledge is what powers us to act conscientiously.

Learn to become a Peace maker

  • Understand oneself: one’s own values and character
  • Develop vision for peace
  • Recognise one’s duty and responsibility in maintaining and preserving peace for all
  • Act as a model to influence others to become Peace makers
  • Commit to participating in collective actions for peace.

Cultural Peace

Peace across cultures, peace through cultures. Preservation and respect of differences, multiple cultures and perspectives would enrich our lives. As cultures are shared meanings and values, let peace be the culture that unites us all.

Cultures are shared meanings, values, attitudes, perspectives and beliefs among groups of individuals in a social context. Cultures are not innate to us, but we are being nurtured through our community and society. We are not only influenced by our environment, but also our culture. To become the agent of culture, we can undergo cultural exchange with people from different cultural backgrounds. In this globalized world, we must foster understanding, inclusiveness and respect of cultural differences and embrace diversity. We must first understand our own culture and society, and be open minded to accept other cultures. Preservation and respect of differences, multiple cultures and perspectives enrich our lives. As cultures are shared meanings and values, let peace be the culture that unites us all.

Social Peace

Peace in society and community

Be mindful of one’s role and responsibilities as a member of the society. Need to play our social roles as citizens and perform the assigned social functions within our communities.

Recognise that any individual can make greater contribution by collaborating with others.

To foster a harmonious society, we must demonstrate integrity and righteousness in playing our parts while caring for the well-bring of others. We must work TOGETHER towards a just and benevolent society. We can overcome adversities and work for progress in face of existing and future environmental, ecological and economic challenges.

Collective effort is the key to success!

Ecological Peace

Preservation of ecology and peace. Starting by being conscious of our day-to-day action in a holistic manner. Starting by reducing energy, water, materials, and food consumption to minimise waste. Make small changes every day.

Climate change and natural disasters had posed an immense impact on everyone’s livelihood. However, these incidents can be evaded with the same knowledge that builds and develops on this planet. By the correct mindset and proper use of our intelligence, we can find our solutions through sustainable development.

Institutional Peace

Advocacy for peace for all

Uphold the principles and belief that peace can only be founded on partnership.

Become a peacemaker by preserving harmony and unity.

Think globally, act locally, help create world peace. Though a lot of us luckily live in war-free places, we must be reminded that institutional peace is a prerequisite to freeing the world from violence and war.

To attain and advance peace for all in this world, we must not tolerate injustice and violation of human rights. We must advocate and fight for rights to education, food and water, health care and gender equality.
