Diversity has been defined as “embracing people with different cultural, economic and political background” and “respecting the uniqueness of individuals”. To achieve diversity, UNESCO HK GPC has been promoting rational discussion of its definition and encouraging the acceptance of people with different background.
In May 2021, GPC co-organised the “Beyond Culture Concert – Open Opportunity for Peace” with the Rotary Club at NAAC. Joined by multi-cultural singers and Rotary Club of Hong Kong City North together with District Governor of Rotary International 3450, the concert had supported families and elderly of different ethnic minorities in HK. Video and snapshots of this event are as below:
Wellness for Peace” comprises activities co-organised by GPC, Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Crntre, aiming to nurture inner peace with wellness practices. In this programme, wellness masters from different countries will teach you ways to build individual peace within yourself through four wellness practices: Meditation, Yoga, Resilience Building and Taichi. Building individual peace is essential to all peacebuilders to build peace in the community.
The UNESCO Hong Kong Association Glocal Peace Centre (GPC) has been fostering youth learning with the Centre’s internship and volunteer programs for the past several years. We would like to take this opportunity to leverage the 8th Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration (PCC) to offer a volunteering service opportunity to young people. “Volunteer for Peace” is a volunteering programme for students to have a “quick turn” learn-and-volunteer experience. This is a unique opportunity for students to take part in a three-part course to learn positive peace, develop leadership skills and learn skillsets to flourish in the “new normal”. Students can readily apply what they have learned in this course to become peacemakers in the Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration: Action for Peace Programmes.
