[Press Release] The Peace and Culture exhibition (Chinese Ethnic Minorities) held by UNESCO Hong Kong Association Global Peace Centre at the Central Market promotes Diversity and Inclusion with the multimedia display and AR game

[22 August, 2022, Hong Kong] UNESCO Hong Kong Association Glocal Peace Centre (‘GPC’) organizes the Peace and Culture exhibition at the Central Market from August 22 to 31, 2022 with a dedicated viewing event on August 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm for the esteemed guests, namely the Hon. Ma Fung-kwok GBS, JP and Mrs. Peggy Lam Pei YU-dja, GBS, OBE. 

This is the finale of the 8th Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration of the “Culture · Action for Peace” programme supported by the Home Affairs Bureau Youth Development Commission’s Large Scale Youth Programme Funding Scheme and is recognized as one of the HKSAR 25th Anniversary celebration events.  

The Exhibition highlights activities from the capstone Celebration with youth engaged in intercultural dialogue, exploring the meaning of peace and experienced diverse cultural activities.

The 8th Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration highlights will be presented in digital format with a Cross-Cultural (Chinese Ethnic Minorities) Photo Exhibition. There will be interactive AR games for the public to gain insights into peace and culture.

About the Peacemaker’s Cultural Celebration

The Peacemaker’s Cultural Celebration is a yearly programme on the theme of Peace and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It serves as a platform for community-based activities to encourage intercultural dialogues. The programme aims to promote peace and the global 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)open_in_new to youth and the public. Through a series of Peace and cultural workshops and activities, the programme celebrates the cultural diversity of Hong Kong and bring opportunities to build peace and harmony.

2020 was a challenging year, with the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting all aspects of our lives. It is all the more important to reunite peacemakers in renewed efforts to build peace and harmony in society, guided by the 17 SDGs. The 8th Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration has been completely virtualised, bringing peacemakers across geographical boundaries together, featuring nine actions for peace programmes of cultural, educational, interactive, creative and competition activities, all conducted virtually.
